What (who) is ANUBIS?
Anubis, in ancient Egyptian mythology was the guardian of the Ka (the term the Egyptians used to describe the Soul). Guarding "souls" (people) is our business, so the name and the spirit behind the myth has found substance in the modern world. Anubis is most often portrayed with the head of a dog (the breed is still around - it's called a Pharaoh Hound or Ibizan) and the body of a man. A statue of Anubis was the first object Howard Carter saw when he opened the royal tomb of Tutankhamen. One of Anubis' more esoteric tasks was to be present at the weighing of the heart. In papyrus scrolls and numerous tomb paintings he stands beside Thoth (the god of scribes) while the heart of the departed one is weighed against Ma'at (truth) usually represented as a feather. If your heart was full of bad deeds, then it would outweigh Ma'at,
and ruin your chances to pass into the after-life (your soul was actually devoured by a really nasty critter with the head of a crocodile).
In today's world the man behind Anubis Systems Technologies is Frank Kurz. I've been in the fire prevention industry for over twenty-five years and have a genuine passion and commitment to this industry. Anubis Systems was founded in 1996 (that's "AD") and enjoys a reputation for providing professional verification services and consultation that is second to none. I currently serve as Chair of the ULC Working Groups for two Canadian Standards Committees, the Fire Alarm Verification Standard (CAN/ULC-S537) and the Fire Alarm Inspection Standard (CAN/ULC-S536). I'm also the founder of the Fire Protection Technician's Network (www.firetechs.net).

This
photograph of a tomb wall painting
depicts a scene from the
Egyptian Book of
the Dead. If you were
really rich when you died,
you didn't have to memorize all the
important
incantations
that would lead you safely back to rebirth.
With enough money,
you could have some nice artist
paint the relevant verses
on the wall of your tomb which of course begs the question:
Now
where did I leave my torch?
